Get to Know Renee of If Spoons Could Talk

Today I thought it would be fun to do a little get to know you game. So I got some food blogger questions together and answered them. If you have any other questions I would love to answer them just leave me a comment.

How long have you been blogging?

Two years next week. I was at Married and Hungry for about a year and a half and have been here at If Spoons Could Talk for the last 5 months.

What food reminds you of childhood?

Kraft Mac and Cheese shapes, of course, baked chicken wings and creamed corn. What we ate at Nana and Papa’s ever time we spent the night.

What is your favorite international cuisine?

Asian and Italian are my favorites. I love Chinese and Thai rice and noodles. And I have always loved a good pasta dish.

What is always in your refrigerator at home?

Chicken breast or thighs ready to be cooked.

What are your go-to ingredients that you use time and time again?

Right now I use brown rice, chicken, sweet potatoes, and veggies a lot. Spice wise garlic powder, Greek seasoning are a big staple.

Do you have a favorite food indulgence?

Ice cream is a weakness and I just love it and will eat it when I can.

What is your most used cookbook?

My Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook has been my most used one for a while now. Before that, I love the Alton Brown cookbook set that I have.

What is your favorite kitchen gadget?

Oh, that is a hard one, I would have to say my chef knife. It is one of the most important things a chef should have and I use it almost every day.

What is a cooking tip that you would like to share with beginning cooks?

Get in there and try. Don’t be afraid to mess up and get the kitchen dirty. When I am developing a recipe I have been known to make a huge mess. It’s the fun part of cooking, embrace it and enjoy.

Where do you get inspiration?

I get it from the people around me, restaurant dishes that surprise me, what I am hungry for. I like to look on Pinterest and from there I usually start branching off into thoughts and flavor combinations that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

What is your favorite drink?

I drink water most of the time. Other than that I like a good mug of hot Oolong Tea or a Good Girl Moonshine.

When you’re not cooking, what are your favorite pastimes?

I am usually playing with our fur babies, reading, writing, or just hanging out binging on Netflix shows. Well, that has been my routine this summer, once school starts back up I will be spending my time teaching, cooking, and sleeping.
