Refreshing Mai Tai

Posted on

Sometimes on a hot evening, all I want to do is relax with a nice cold drink in my hand. I am not a big alcohol drinker but from time to time I like something fruity when I am with friends. A few weeks ago Hubby came up with this Mai Tai recipe and it is great!

It tastes even better than the ones I get when we are out. With a huge plus of not costing as much. Now I don’t normally give brand names when I write my recipes and I am sure any light and dark rum will do but this combo is a favorite. Instead of using pineapple juice and orange juice we found a blend from Dole that is delicious and perfect for this drink.

We don’t have a jigger so I just take my small glass measuring cup and add in both rums and triple sec. Then poor it in a glass filled with ice. (linked below are the cups I use) Add in the juice to top off the cup. Then pour in the grenadine, I go light because I’m not a big cherry fan, you can always add more if you like. Stir to mix it all up and enjoy your refreshing drink.

I love making mixed drinks because it is up to you how you make it. This recipe could be a guideline if you are comfortable playing around with the flavor and strength of your drink. Make this your own and I am sure it will be one of your top drinks this summer.
