Review of Skinny Taste Fast and Slow. Read why I give it 5 Stars

Cookbook Review: Skinny Taste Fast and Slow

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, there are no affiliate links in this post.

Skinny Taste Fast and Slow by Gina Homolka is a cookbook all about Quick Fix and Slow Cooker recipes that are tasty and good for you. Gina is a long time blogger at Skinny Taste and this is her second cookbook. It is always exciting to get other food blogger cookbooks because it makes it feel like it’s possible for any blogger to get to that point too. I first wanted this book because it had both quick recipes and slow cooker recipes, it is just a great idea for a cookbook that I had to check it out.

First Impressions:in

It has a beautiful cover with a great bold picture on the front. Flipping through the pages I just fell more in love with the book. The layout is great which I will get more into later. I was surprised to see a whole section in the front before the recipes even started talking about the best way to be efficient in the kitchen when you are short on time. And I must say the are great tips and some that I share here as well. She also was awesome enough to include a whole month meal plan for every meal. I personally love looking at meal plans for inspiration on what I will do even if I am not following it exactly. Simply put I was hooked after just a few minutes.

Layout:

She has broken her 140 recipes down into 11 groups ranging from breakfasts, side dishes to sweet recipes. Each chapter is then broken down into fast recipes and slow recipes. I really like this layout because I can choose what kind of dish I want then see what the options are for a quick dinner right then or to do a little morning prep to have it in the crock pot the next night. Instead of having to hunt through a bunch of fast or slow recipes for the type I am looking for. She has many options for gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free, freezer friendly, and even some pressure cooker friendly meals. Each indicated by cute little icons by the recipe title.

Another great feature that I just love is that she teamed up with a Registered Dietician and every recipe has all the nutritional information for you. This makes meal planning so much easier for many people. I don’t follow numbers much being on THM but it is great to have the information there with the recipes so I know exactly how it fits into the plan.

Overall rating:

I give Skinny Taste Fast and Slow 5 stars. It really has everything that I wanted it to have and more when I first saw the book. I am also excited to start reading the Skinny Taste blog to keep up with Gina.
